The month of October is almost out and days are getting shorter, so by the time she reaches the bus stop near her school everything is already shrouded in greyish, autumn dusk. She feels tired, so unbelievably tired, and the evening chill is creeping past her sweatshirt. There is nothing in the world that she’d want more than to be back home.
The bus arrives almost on time and she makes her way inside, quickly absorbed by a wave of people trying to squeeze in through the nearest door. Nobody’s paying any attention to her; she gets squashed and pushed, and somebody steps on her foot, while another person is pushing their elbow into her ribcage. It doesn’t matter, she’s used to it by now. Just like everybody else, she just wants to be inside and get going.
The bus has arived almost empty, so the crowd quickly dissipates, giving her some room to breathe. There are still a few

Fall Nights is a set of three ghosts-and-death themed stories I wrote for Halloween. I label them as horror stories for convenience, though admittedly I think that only one of them even makes attempts at being scary. I hope you find them enjoyable nonetheless.
